News & Notes
The Monarchs overtime loss to the Wolf Pack on Sunday night snapped two long and impressive winning streaks. The Monarchs entered Sunday's contest with 13 straight wins and 10 straight wins on home ice. Both streaks represented new team records.
The Monarchs 13-game winning streak was the second longest winning streak in the AHL this season. The longest winning streak in AHL this season (and in the history of the league) belongs to the Philadelphia Phantoms, who won 17 straight games from October 22 to November 27, 2004.
One impressive streak still remains intact. The Monarchs established a new club record with their sixth straight road win, a 3-2 triumph over the Bruins at the Dunkin' Donuts Center on Friday night.
The Monarchs 13-game winning streak began with a 5-2 win over the Albany River Rats on Saturday, November 6, and ended with a 4-3 loss in overtime to the Wolf Pack on Sunday, December 5.
The Monarchs outscored their competition, 61-25, during the streak.
The streak included three wins over the Springfield Falcons, two wins over the Lowell Lock Monsters, two wins over the Worcester IceCats, two wins over the Providence Bruins, one win over the Albany River Rats, one win over the Hershey Bears, one win over the Norfolk Admirals and one win over the Portland Pirates.
Five different players collected game-winning goals for the Monarchs during the streak. Right wing Tom Kostopoulos led the way with four game winners, followed by Cammalleri with three, and center Yanick Lehoux, left wing Dustin Brown and center Matt Ryan with two each.
Cammalleri led the Monarchs with 14 goals and 23 points (14-9=23) during the streak.
Goaltender Mathieu Garon won nine games during the streak. His other numbers during the streak included two shutouts, a 1.91 goals -against-average and a .939 save-percentage.
Goaltender Adam Hauser won four games during the streak. His other numbers during the streak included three shutouts, a 1.48 goals -against-average and a .954 save-percentage.
Garon and Hauser combined for five shutouts, a 1.77 goals -against-average and a .944 save-percentage during the streak.
The streak included five one-goal wins, one win in overtime and one shootout win.
The Monarchs scored five or more goals eight times during the streak.
Hauser collected his fourth shutout of the season with a 2-0 victory over the Bruins on Saturday night. With the shutout, Hauser passed former backstop Travis Scott (2001-03) and moved into first place on the Monarchs career shutouts list with 11.
Hauser, who has a 7-0-0 record in eight appearances this season, ranks second in the league with a .949 save-percentage and a 1.56 goals -against-average. His four shutouts are tied for the league lead.
Both Cammalleri and Lehoux have scored in 20 of the Monarchs 22 games this season.
Lehoux has scored at least a point in 12 straight games. He has 19 points (6-13=19) during the streak.
