Grizzlies Acquire Ryan Hayes from Stockton

Utah Grizzlies News Release
Bakersfield, California - Utah Grizzlies Head Coach/General Manager Tim Branham announced today that the team has acquired forward Ryan Hayes from the Stockton Thunder in exchange for Vincent Scarsella.
He will be in the lineup tonight when the Grizzlies take their four-game unbeaten streak into Bakersfield for an 8 p.m. start on 1320 KFAN/ECHL.TV.
The trade is the second completed by Branham in the last seven days as Utah acquired defenseman Corey Finehage from Bakersfield on Saturday.
"Evaluating our first half of the season, I targeted a few areas moving forward," said Branham. "Finehage can play big minutes at important times on the back end and Hayes is not only a point-a-game player in the regular season, but has played his best hockey in the playoffs."
Hayes, 25, has 85 goals and 99 assists for 184 points in 238 career ECHL games, including 35 points in 32 games last year with Stockton on 16 goals and 19 assists. He had 10 goals and 12 assists for 22 points in 37 games this year with Stockton.
The Syracuse, New York native has 13 goals and 18 assists for 31 points in 32 career playoff games; including as Stockton's leading scorer as they advanced to the Kelly Cup Finals in 2013 when he tallied nine goals and 15 assists for 24 points in 23 playoff games. Last year, he led Stockton with four goals in the post season on seven points in nine games as they upset Ontario four games to none in the first round.
The Grizzlies are next in action Friday and Saturday in Bakersfield at 8 p.m.
