DJ Abisalih Selected as Radio Broadcaster for 2015 ECHL All-Star Game
January 16, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Wheeling Nailers News Release
WHEELING, WV- The Wheeling Nailers, proud ECHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins and Montreal Canadiens, are excited to announce that DJ Abisalih has been selected as the radio broadcaster for the 2015 CCM/ECHL All-Star Classic presented by Visit Orlando.
Abisalih, 27, is currently in the midst of his fourth season as radio broadcaster for the Nailers, as he joined the organization at the start of the 2011-12 campaign. Prior to coming to Wheeling, DJ spent two seasons with the QMJHL's Lewiston MAINEiacs, where he broke into hockey under former Nailers voice Alex Reed, before taking over the head position. The New England School of Communications graduate also worked for the Portland Sea Dogs (Double-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox) for nine seasons, fulfilling a variety of roles from the broadcast booth to the concession stand. Abisalih is the third longest tenured broadcaster in team history, as his 263 regular season and playoff broadcasts trail only Bill McLaughlin (375) and Ned Bowdern (365).
"I am extremely grateful for this opportunity given to me by the ECHL," said Abisalih. "It is a huge honor to be selected for an event like this on an enormous stage, and I am looking forward to bringing hockey fans worldwide the most exciting call possible," he said.
Fans will be able to tune into DJ's call on ECHL.TV, which is offering a free broadcast of the All-Star Classic. An account can be setup for free on ECHL.TV, by using the code CCMASC2015, which will access the feed from Orlando's Amway Center. The game will also be broadcast live on 740 The Game in Orlando, as well as worldwide through iHeartRadio on iheartsolarbears.com.
The 2015 CCM/ECHL All-Star Classic presented by Visit Orlando takes place on Wednesday, January 21st at 7:00, with the ECHL All-Stars facing the Orlando Solar Bears.
The Nailers return to WesBanco area on January 23rd & 24th for a two-game series against Fort Wayne, as the new jumbotron will make its debut. Saturday's game will be Star Wars Night, as well as a Ski Cap giveaway to the first 1,000 kids (14 & under) in attendance.
Wheeling Nailers 2014-15 season tickets, flex tickets, group tickets and single-game tickets are on sale now. For more information, call 304-234-GOAL or visit wheelingnailers.com.
