Reading Royals News Release

ROYALS PRE-GAME NOTES

- Tonight, the Royals and Jackals face each other for the ninth of what will be fifteen times this year. In the first eight games in the series, the Royals have compiled a record of 4-2-1-1.

- This game kicks off the third three-game 'mini-series' between Reading and Elmira with the two teams facing off tomorrow (Saturday, January 17 @ 7:05 pm) here at First Arena and then heading down to Reading for the annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday showdown (Monday, January 19 @ 1:05 pm) at Santander Arena.

- In both of the prior three-game sets between the Royals and Jackals (10/24 - 10/26/14 and 12/26 - 12/31/14), Reading won the first two games in the series before the Jackals bounced back to take the finale.

- The Royals have two more three-game 'mini-series' still to go this season. Reading will face the Florida Everblades for three in a row at Santander Arena on Friday, February 6, through Sunday, February 8; and the team will travel to Brampton, Ontario, to face the Brampton Beast for three in a row from Thursday, March 19, through Sunday, March 22.

- The Royals have compiled a record of 9-3-0-0 in the team's last twelve games and 12-4-0-0 in the last sixteen.

- Reading has gone 10-4-1-0 on the road so far this season. In the most recent road game played by the Royals, the Wheeling Nailers snapped a six game road win streak for Reading with a 6-5 win at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling, West Virginia, on Friday, January 9. WesBanco is the only building in the ECHL in which the Royals have sustained a regulation loss this season other than Santander Arena.

- The Royals are 2-0-1-0 so far at First Arena in Elmira with four more games still to be played here. Reading has compiled a record or 10-0-1-0 in the last eleven games that the team has played in Elmira dating back to February 15, 2013.

- Reading is coming off a 6-2 win over the Brampton Beast on Sunday in Reading. The six goals scored in that game tied the team season-high for goals in a single game. (It also tied the team season-high for margin of victory at four.) The Royals have scored six goals four times this year (3-1-0-0). Reading is sixth in goals scored this season, averaging 3.46 goals per game.

The Royals have had topped the forty-shot plateau in each of the last four games played by the team. Reading currently leads the league is shots per game, averaging 33.77 shots per contest.

- On Sunday, Sean Wiles scored a pair of goals (including the game winner while Reading was playing with the man advantage). In doing so, Wiles became the ninth different player this season to score two goals in a single game for the team. His second goal that game was his tenth of the year, making him the sixth different Royal to reach double-digits in goals scored.

- Reading has scored at least one power play goal in each of the last five games played. That is the longest streak of consecutive games this season in which the team has scored a PPG. During this most recent streak, the Royals have gone 6 for 25 with the man advantage (24.0% scoring ratio).

- The Royals penalty kill blanked the Brampton power play on Sunday, marking the twentieth time this season that Reading's PK has kept the opposition's power play off the board. The team has gone 15-3- 1-1 in those games.

- However, the Royals' killers have been touched up for at least one power play goal against in five of the last eight games and have allowed eight PPGAs in twenty-three chances on the power play for the opposition during that time span, which is a 65.2% kill ratio.

- The Royals are the second least penalized team in the league, averaging 10.83 PIMs per game.

- Pat Mullane is riding a three-game multi-point streak (2g-4a=6pts). Mullane, who has had at least one point in five of his last six games, leads the Royals with eleven multi-point performances. Mullane, who leads the Royals in goals (13) and points (36) in thirty-five games played, has recorded at least a point in twenty of his last twenty-four games (9g-21a=30pts).

- Cam Reid leads the Royals with four 'first goals' the most recent of which came in the win over the Wheeling on Wednesday, January 7. His twelve goals is tied for second most on the team. Reid will represent the Royals in the 2015 CCM / ECHL All-Star Classic in Orlando, Florida, next week.

Labelle is the all-time leading goal scorer for the Royals with 82 (and 157 points) in 191 career games with the team. Cruthers is the team's all-time leading scorer with 248 points (79g-169a) in 246 games with Reading.

- Mike Marcou is riding a three game point streak (0g-4a). Marcou is currently tied for eighth amongst defensemen in the league in scoring (3g-19a=22pts). His nine power play assist is tied for second most among d-men in the league.

- Sean Wiles has scored seven goals in his last thirteen games. He has played even or better in seventeen consecutive games (and he's played to a plus in six of those games).

- Ian Watters recorded his first multi-point game as Royal (1g-1a) in the 6-5 loss in Wheeling last Friday. Watters also picked up an assist on the game's first goal (by Andrew Johnston) in Sunday's win over Brampton on Sunday. - Goaltender Martin Ouellette, who was recalled to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms in the AHL on Tuesday, recorded his team-leading eleventh win for Reading on Sunday against Brampton.
