
Game Preview: Stingrays Take on Walleye in Friday Family Four Pack and $5 Merchandise Frenzy Matchup

North Charleston, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays, celebrating 22 seasons of hockey in the Lowcountry, battle the Toledo Walleye tonight on Family Four Pack Friday and $5 Merchandise Frenzy Night at 7:05 p.m. at the North Charleston Coliseum. Tonight is the second of four meetings between the two teams this season.
Family Four Pack Friday:
Grab a Stingrays Family Four Pack for tonight's contest for only $55 at the Coliseum Box Office! All packs include four tickets, four hotdogs, four sodas and a large popcorn!
College and Military Tickets:
All college and military tickets are $7 at the Box Office with ID!
$5 Merchandise Frenzy:
The Stingrays host the first-ever $5 merchandise frenzy tonight at their service table behind section 110. Select Stingrays hoodies, shirts and youth gear are available for $5 (cash only; while supplies last).
Series Breakdown:
The Stingrays host the Walleye for the second time this season after falling 4-3 in a shootout at the Coliseum on November 4. The win marked the Walleye's first-ever triumph in North Charleston and just their second win against the Stingrays in team history. Last season, the Stingrays went 4-0-0-0 against the Walleye and hold a 19-1-1 all-time record against their North-Division rivals.
Stellar Defense and Offense Collide:
The Stingrays boast the second-best defense in the ECHL averaging 2.57 goals-against per game and take on Toledo's league-leading offense averaging 4.48 goals-scored per contest. The Stingrays also sit second in the league with a 26.40 shots-against average.
The Special Teams Are...Well...Special:
Through 35 games, the Stingrays hold the fourth best penalty kill in the ECHL at 87.1 percent (17 goals on 132 chances) while the Walleye hold the top spot on both the power play and penalty kill at 23.9 percent (28 goals on 117 chances) and 88.8 percent (12 goals against on 107 chances) respectively.
Stingrays Rolling Along:
The Stingrays have picked up points in 15 of the last 18 contests going 13-3-1-1 and enter tonight's contest looking to snap a two-game winless stretch (0-1-0-1).
Breakaway Contest:
In three games since the New Year's break, the Stingrays appeared in two shootouts and are tied for the ECHL lead with eight shootout games (3-5 record) played this season.

The Stingrays continue a three-game in three-day weekend tomorrow, Saturday, January 17, the Stingrays celebrate Charleston County Environmental Management Patrick Gaul Bobblehead Giveaway Night against the Indianapolis Fuel at 7:05! Be one of the first 1,000 fans to grab a bobblehead of the Stingrays' fan favorite!
The weekend wraps up Sunday, January 18 with Frozen with the Children's Museum of the Lowcountry at 3:05 p.m. against the Walleye. Sing your favorite songs from the Disney classic and dress as your favorite characters! Sunday is also Crews Subaru Family Sunday and Kids Day with $5 kids tickets and $5 kids meals on the Coliseum concourse!
