North Charleston, SC Another shoot out another single point. The Greenville Grrrowl edged past the South Carolina Stingrays for a 3-2 shoot out win in front of 5,627 fans at the North Charleston Coliseum. The loss spoiled two point nights for Brad Parsons and Cail MacLean of the Rays, who each had a goal and an assist in the contest.
The Stingrays are now 0-8 in games that advance beyond regulation. Greenville improved to 16-10-1 with the win, while the Rays fell to 12-13-8.
The Stingrays took a 1-0 lead in the first period despite being out shot by the Grrrowl 12-4. Cail MacLean netted is third of the season for South Carolina on the power play when Brad Parsons found the veteran on the back door behind netminder Mike Morrison at 7:30.
The Grrrowl evened the score in the second period when Tim Sestito beat Maxime Daigneault with a backhand move at 3:33 of the frame. Daigneault replaced Davis Parley, who left the game with an injury after making 12 saves on 12 shots in the first period.
In the third period, Brock Radunske looked like he had the winner at 16:25 when he took a pass from John Snowden in front of Daigneault and scored on a forehand move but the Rays rallied to tie on with their goaltender pulled with 32 seconds remaining. Brad Parsons knocked in a lose puck in a scramble in front of Morrison to send the game to overtime.
