
Pittman's hat trick leads Titans to 5-2 win over Royals

TRENTON, NJ (January 7, 2006) - Chris Pittman notched two short-handed empty net goals in the third period to complete a hat trick and help seal a 5-2 victory over the Reading Royals.
4,989 in attendance at Sovereign Bank Arena saw the Titans jump out to a 2-0 edge just 5:25 into the game as Mark Lee and Pittman each the lit the lamp in a span of 2:54.
Trenton stretched its lead to 3-0 early in the second period as, for the second night in a row, Mike Jarmuth assisted Jim Henkel on a power play goal 1:24 into the stanza. Henkel also extended his point scoring to eight games with the score.
The Royals finally broke through at 8:16 of the period when Larry Courville deflected Tyler Hanchuck's slapshot past Dustin Traylen.
In the third period, Chris Bala cut Trenton's cushion back to one-goal intercepting Traylen's clearing attempt and depositing the puck into the open net for a shorthanded goal at 5:31.
With 3:34 left in regulation, the Titans found themselves forced to kill off successive delay of game penalties to preserve their 3-2 lead.
With Yutaka Fukufuji pulled in favor of the extra attacker, Pittman was able to the complete his three-goal night with two tallies within twenty-six seconds to allow Trenton to pull away with win.
Traylen raised his record to 9-4-1 on his 32-save performance.
The Titans notched their first goals on the man-advantage versus the Royals this season going to 2-for-7 during the game and also shut out Reading's top-ranked power play on seven opportunities.
