Ice Pilots Lose 6-3 At Florida

Pensacola, FL - The Ice Pilots began their eight game road trip on Saturday night at Germain Arena in Estero, Florida losing to the Everblades 6-3 in front of 6,136 fans.

Steve Saviano gave Florida a 1-0 lead on a power play goal at the 3:14 mark of the first period. Jonathan Lehun would make it 2-0 Florida scoring on a rebound shot by Steve Saviano from in front of the net at the 6:46 mark of the first period.

Each team would score three goals in the second period. Phil Aucoin scored at the 9:26 mark to give Florida a 3-0 lead. Bryson Busniuk scored a break away goal for the Ice Pilots at 10:20 and Steven Later scored on a back hand for the Ice Pilots at the 11:25 mark. Steve Saviano would score for Florida at the 13:00 mark and Tanner Shultz scored for the Ice Pilots 50 seconds later to make it a 4-3 game. Anders Strome would score at the 14:53 mark to give Florida a 5-3 lead after two periods.

Bogdan Rudenko would score the only goal in the third period at the 1:27 mark on a hard wrist shot from the right wing circle that fooled Ice Pilots goalie David Cann who replaced Todd Ford in goal at the start of the period. Florida would hold on to win 6-3.

The Ice Pilots had 37 shots on goal and went 0-6 on the power play. Florida had 42 shots on goal and went 1-7 on the power play. Todd Ford was the losing goalie for the Ice Pilots and Phil Osaer picked up the win in goal for Florida.

The Ice Pilots drop their record to 11-18-3 for 25 points and Florida improves their record to 21-8-2 for 46 points.

The Ice Pilots will continue their road trip with a game on Tuesday morning at 9:30 a.m. central time at South Carolina. The game time was changed to accommodate school kids to watch the game.
