LAST WEEK:
The Grrrowl went 0-1 for the first weekend of regular season, with a 3-2 loss to the South Carolina Stingrays in Charleston, SC.
THIS WEEK:
Friday, October 24, 2003 @ 7:05pm â HOME vs Charlotte
Saturday, October 25, 2003 @ 7:05pm â HOME vs Greensboro
GRRROWL STATS:
Han Sung Kim (first Koren-born player in the ECHL) scored the first Grrrowl of the 2003-04 season, and Peter Flache also scored in the first period to account for the Grrrowl total against the Stingrays. Four different players had an assist during the season's opener.
PROMOTIONAL SCHEDULE:
· The first 5,000 fans to attend the opening night game (vs Charlotte) on Friday, October 24th, will receive a "Grrrowl Magnet Schedule" provided by Verizon Wireless and Charter Communications. Verizon Wireless is the presenting sponsor for the entire opening weekend, which also includes Saturday's game (10/25) vs the Greensboro Generals, another Eastern Conference foe. This will also be the first of two Scout Nights during the upcoming season. Loretta Holloway and Sarah Reese will be on hand to perform "America the Beautiful" and the "Star Spangled Banner" respectfully.
· Saturday's game will feature the first installment of "Grrrowl Soundstage", featuring a live performance during pre-game activities by Barney's Jive Band. Each Saturday during the season, local entertainment will perform on a special stage in the concourse in the BI-LO Center â just outside section 103-104.
2002-03 SEASON RE-CAP:
Final Record: 28-36-8 (64 points) â 5th in the Southeast Division of the Southern Conference Lost in the SE Division Semi-finals to the Columbia Inferno (3-0), after defeating the Florida Everblades in the Wild Card Play-in Game to advance to the semi-finals.
