Express Signs Defenseman to Contract

ROANOKE, VA – The Roanoke Express has signed defenseman Steve Burgess to a contract, it was announced today by Express Head Coach Tony MacAulay. Burgess joined the team today, and will be in uniform this week when the Express heads on the road to Atlantic City and Cincinnati.

Burgess, a 22-year-old native of Michigan, begins his third professional season after spending last season with three teams. Burgess began last year with the Cape Fear Fire Antz of the Atlantic Coast Hockey League, collecting 10 points (2 goals, 8 assists) in 47 games. He was promoted to the East Coast Hockey League and saw time with both the Wheeling Nailers and Charlotte Checkers. The defenseman skated in five games with Wheeling and played in six games with the Checkers.

The addition of Burgess completes the Express roster at 18 skaters and 2 goaltenders.
