Atlanta Gladiators News Release
No holes in Berkhoel! Gladiators netminder Adam Berkhoel posted his first professional shutout last Tuesday as he backstopped the Gladiators to a 3-0 win over the Florida Everblades. Berkhoel made 28 saves for the Gladiators in the win. It was the third shutout of the season for the Gladiators and the third different Gwinnett goaltender to post a shutout this year.
A Vigilante on the Loose: Mike Vigilante picked up two goals in last night's 2-1 win against Charlotte to extend his point scoring streak to six consecutive games. Vigilante's streak began on February 12th with an assist in the Gladiators 3-2 shootout loss against Florida. Vigilante's longest point scoring streak is 13 games when he put up at least one point in 13 straight games for the Gladiators last season before being called up to Portland of the AHL at the end of November. Peter Flache and Kris Goodjohn share first for longest consecutive streak with at least a point as both recorded at least a point in 8 games earlier this season.
Two for 20 (and 21): Mike Vigilante recorded his 20th and 21st goals of the season in last night's 2-1 win over the Charlotte Checkers. With the goals, Vigilante becomes the second Gladiator to post 20 goals this season joining rookie forward Jeff Campbell. With the goals, Vigilante is now tied with Campbell for the team lead in goals scored with 21.
Bring out Your Dead! The Gladiators penalty kill has been perfect in the past 6 games not allowing a goal during that span. The Gladiators opponents are 0-for-26 in the last six games on the power play and are 0-for-29 in their last 29 attempts. It is the longest streak without allowing an opponent a power play goal this season.
Having a Fields Day: Netminder Sean Fields continues to be perfect for the Gladiators in the shootout on the road. Fields turned aside all 6 South Carolina shooters in the shootout to pick up the win on Friday night. Fields recorded his first shootout win of the season beating Augusta on January 7th denying all 4 Augusta shooters and is now 3-0 in the shootout on the road.
