Fresno Falcons News Release
Fresno, Calif. - The Fresno Falcons came back from a 2-0 deficit to defeat the Las Vegas Wranglers 3-2 in front of a crowd of 4,224 at Save Mart Center. John Wroblewski scored the game-winning goal, while goaltender Brett Jaeger blocked 31 out of 33 shots to claim his fourth win in his last five starts.
The first goal of the night did not come until 13:54 into the first period when Las Vegas center Chris Stanley deflected a shot past Jaeger. The Wranglers scored once again early in the second period with a goal by Darren Lynch at 4:36, extending their lead to 2-0.
Derek Krestanovich brought the Falcons' deficit back to one when he received a pass in front of the goal by Charles Simard and netted his 17th goal of the season.
Simon Mangos then evened the score for the Falcons, scoring his fifth goal of the season. After a long scuffle in front of the Las Vegas net, Matt O'Dette cleared the puck out to Mangos, who then lifted it past Wranglers' goaltender Marc Magliarditi.
In the third period, the Falcons took their first lead of the night when Wroblewski scored the game-winning goal for the Falcons at 2:50, making up for a missed penalty shot opportunity in the second period.
With two minutes remaining, Las Vegas emptied the net to add an extra attacker, but was unable to execute. The 3-2 victory for the Falcons is their third win in a row, giving them an overall record of 29-17-6.
The Falcons will conclude the month of February on the road next weekend when they will face the second-place Alaska Aces in Anchorage on Saturday and Sunday.
The next home game for the Falcons will be Tuesday, March 1 at 7 p.m. against the Bakersfield Condors. The game is a Carl's Jr. Two for Tuesday.
