Royals take six of possible eight points this week

The Royals are in the midst of back-to-back four game weeks to end the month of February. Reading managed to grab points in every contest this week. The Royals exploded for three, third period goals on Tuesday to knock off the Trenton Titans, 4-1. Barry Brust stopped 32 shots to post the victory. The Royals laced the skates back up on Friday at home to battle the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies. Reading was in control of the game for 54 minutes, but the Bullies scored two unanswered goals in the final six minutes to force overtime. Reading lost its first overtime contest this season as Kelsey Muench ended the contest 2:03 in the extra session. The Royals would go to overtime again the very next night in Trenton against the Titans. Captain Cail MacLean tied the game in the third at 2-2 on the power play. Trenton prevailed in the shootout converting on two-of-four opportunities, while Andrew Allen stopped all four Royals shooters he faced. The Royals finished the week on Sunday against Wheeling in the Sovereign Center. Despite grabbing a 2-0 lead, the Royals trailed 3-2 early in the third stanza after Ray DiLauro fired in a power-play goal for the Nailers. Jon Francisco tied the game for Reading midway through the period and then redirected in the game winner in overtime to give Reading its first overtime win of the season.

The Royals will play just one time at home this week before going on the road for three straight. Reading meets Johnstown in the Keystone Cup Series on Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. in the Sovereign Center. The Royals travel to Peoria for a pair of games against the Rivermen on Friday and Saturday before finishing up the week in Toledo on Sunday afternoon.

Tuesday, February 15 vs. Trenton Sovereign Center 7:05PM ET

GAME NOTES: In a rescheduled game, which was postponed on January 22, Reading fired in three goals in the third period to record a 4-1 win over the Titans to improve to 3-4-1 on the season against Trenton. Larry Courville tipped in the game winner for Reading 12:13 into the third period. Graig Mischler (2a), Adam Borzecki (2a) and Eric Fortier (1g, 1a) recorded two-point efforts.

Friday, February 18 vs. Atlantic City Sovereign Center 7:05PM ET

GAME NOTES: The Bullies came back with two late third period goals to force overtime in which they prevailed, 4-3. After falling down 1-0, Reading scored three unanswered goals, two by forward Eric Fortier and the other by defenseman Mikko Viitanen. Kelsey Muench grabbed the overtime winner for Atlantic City just over two minutes into the four-on-four situation.

Saturday, February 19 @ Trenton Sovereign Bank Arena 7:00PM ET

GAME NOTES: The Royals lost in a shootout to Trenton, 3-2. Andrew Allen stopped all four Royals shooters, while the Titans converted two-of-four chances in the shootout. Reading dropped to 3-4-1 this season against the Titans with just two more regular season meetings remaining.

Sunday, February 20 vs. Wheeling Sovereign Center 5:05PM ET

GAME NOTES: The Royals collected their fifth win in eight tries this season over the visitors from West Virginia. Reading picked up two power-play goals by the captain Cail MacLean to jump up 2-0 in the first period. Wheeling scored two goals just 2:50 into the second period to even the score at 2-2. Each team added a marker in the third, before Jon Francisco ended the game 3:56 into overtime with a redirected shot from the point that beat goaltender Joe Exter to give Reading a 4-3 win.

Tuesday, February 22 vs. Johnstown Sovereign Center 7:05PM ET

GAME NOTES: The Johnstown Chiefs hold a two games to one edge in the regular season series. Each team has protected home ice in this North Divisional match-up. Reading is 1-0-0 in the Sovereign Center with four meetings remaining, including tonight. Reading and Johnstown haven't met since January 9 in Johnstown.

Friday, February 25 @ Peoria Carver Arena 8:30PM ET GAME NOTES: This is the first of back-to-back meetings in Peoria. These are final two games in Carver Arena in Peoria for the Royals and Rivermen in ECHL regular season history. The Royals have posted a perfect 3-0-0 record against the Rivermen with two victories in Carver Arena.

Saturday, February 26 @ Peoria Carver Arena 8:00PM ET

GAME NOTES: This game marks the final regular season meeting between the Rivermen and Royals in Peoria. The two clubs will meet three more times in Reading to finish off the eight-game regular season series. Two of the final eight games will take place the last week of the regular season.

Sunday, February 27 @ Toledo Sovereign Center 3:00PM ET

GAME NOTES: This is the final visit for the Royals to the Sports Arena in Toledo. Reading is 1-1-1 in this building this season and holds a 3-2-1 record in the regular season series. Reading and Toledo will meet two more times in Reading to finish off the nine-game regular season set.

Royals goaltender Barry Brust posted his team-leading 16th victory of the season stopping 32 shots in the Royals 4-1 win over Trenton on Tuesday. Brust dropped a tough 4-3 overtime decision on Friday against Atlantic City.

Friday, Fortier fired in two goals in the Royals overtime loss to Atlantic City. The three-year professional added an assist on Saturday and recorded two assists on Sunday in the overtime victory over Wheeling.
