Reading Signs Forward/ Defenseman

Reading, PA – The Reading Royals, affiliate of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings and AHL's Manchester Monarchs, have announced that they have signed forward/ defenseman R.J. Roy to an ECHL contract.

The second-year professional has spent this season in the Southern Professional Hockey League. He has appeared in 46 games with three teams and recorded six goals and 24 points with 20 penalty minutes. The Ottawa, Ontario native began his career in the SEHL with the Cape Fear Fire Antz in 2003-04. In 29 games, he registered a goal and 18 points along with 49 minutes in penalties.

Roy signed with Reading just before their Sunday afternoon contest with Wheeling. He wore sweater #18 and was held scoreless in his first ECHL game.

Reading and Johnstown meet tomorrow in the Sovereign Center at 7:05 p.m. Royals Weekly returns to the Classic Café, off Route 183 in Bern Township, tonight at 6:00 p.m. on ESPN Radio, 1240AM. Centermen #13 Jon Francisco and #22 Larry Courville will be our special guests along with coach Derek Clancey.
