Atlanta Gladiators News Release

The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that they have signed veteran forward Cam Brown for their inaugural season.

"Cam is a proven leader and will be a great asset for us in the locker room," said Gladiators General Manager Steve Chapman. "He's been in this league for several years as a player and has a unique understanding of our game through his experience as a Head Coach last season. He knows what's needed to get the job done."

Brown was a first year Head Coach of the Baton Rouge Kingfish last season. He posted a 20-43-9 record with the Kingfish last season after an 11 year professional career which included a stint in the NHL with the Vancouver Canucks during the 1991-92 season.

"He's a proven leader," said Gladiators Head Coach Jeff Pyle, "and he's got great size and is one of the toughest guys in this league. His coaching experience will be a great asset for us with all the young guys on our roster."

Prior to coaching the Kingfish, Brown played six seasons with Baton Rouge and holds the team's career record for games played and is in the top five in career penalty minutes in the ECHL with 2,084.

"After coaching last season, I still had an itch to play," said Cam Brown. "After speaking with Jeff, the situation here in Gwinnett was a perfect fit and I'm excited about the upcoming season."

Brown becomes the seventh player signed by the Gladiators who open training camp on Saturday, October 4th at the Arena at Gwinnett Center at 10 a.m.

The Gladiators play their first ever game at the Arena at Gwinnett Center on October 24th against the Augusta Lynx at 7:35 p.m. Call (770)-497-5100 and get your season tickets today.
