ECHL Preseason Schedule Opens Tuesday

PRINCETON, N.J. – The ECHL on Wednesday announced its composite preseason schedule. The preseason has 36 games and begins on Tuesday when Trenton hosts defending Kelly Cup Champion Atlantic City in a 7:30 p.m. game at Lawrenceville, N.J.

Trenton will travel to Anchorage for a pair of preseason games against the Alaska Aces at Sullivan Arena on October 10 and 11. The Texas Wildcatters and the Idaho Steelheads will meet in a pair of preseason games, October 8 at the Manchester Ice and Event Centre in McCall, Idaho and October 10 at the Bank of America Centre in Boise, Idaho.

For the second year in a row, the BI-LO Center in Greenville will host a three-team scrimmage with the Charlotte Checkers, the Greenville Grrrowl and the Greensboro Generals taking the ice on October 11. Greenville will play Charlotte at 10 a.m. and Greensboro at 4 p.m. while Charlotte and Greensboro meet at 1 p.m. The Roanoke Express, the Wheeling Nailers and the host Johnstown Chiefs will play three games on October 11 at Cambria County War Memorial. Johnstown plays Roanoke at 4:30 p.m. and Wheeling at 8 p.m. while Wheeling and Roanoke face off at 6:15 p.m.

The ECHL opens its 16th season on October 17 with 31 teams in 17 states and welcomes nine new markets, including six from the former West Coast Hockey League, with the addition of the Alaska Aces, the Bakersfield Condors, the Fresno Falcons, the Gwinnett (Georgia) Gladiators, the Idaho (Boise) Steelheads, the Las Vegas Wranglers, the Long Beach Ice Dogs, the San Diego Gulls, and the Texas (Beaumont) Wildcatters.
