ECHL Announces Resolution Of Labor Dispute
October 1, 2003 - ECHL (ECHL)
Augusta Lynx News Release
The ECHL and the Professional Hockey Players' Association have agreed on a framework for resolution of their labor dispute, bringing with it the end of the current player strike against the league.
"We're very excited to see things come to a positive conclusion," said Stan Drulia, Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations for the Augusta Lynx. "Now we can concentrate our efforts on putting a championship team on the ice in Augusta."
Major principles of a new Collective Bargaining Agreement between the ECHL and PHPA have been agreed upon, but are subject to finalization by counsel from both parties.
"We'll be extremely busy over the next few days," said Tom Callahan, Director of Broadcasting and Public Relations. "There will be a lot of activity regarding player signings, and the team is really going to take shape."
The Lynx will now concentrate on the opening of Training Camp 2003, which will begin with players arriving on Friday, and kicking things off in earnest on Saturday. Augusta will play two pre-season games, both against the expansion Gwinnett Gladiators. The home and home series starts Friday, October 10th at Gwinnett, then continues Saturday night at the Augusta Richmond County Civic Center. Both contests are 7:35 pm starts. Tickets are $5 each for any location, with season ticket holders admitted free with their ticket books. Pre-season game tickets will be available starting Saturday, October 4th along with all 36 regular season games. Season ticket holders may call in advance to the Lynx office and reserve additional pre-season game seating if needed at (706) 724-4423.
The Lynx will open the 2003-04 Season against the Florida Everblades on Friday, October 17th at 7:35 pm. Lower Bowl Seats are $12, Second Level Seats are $10, and Upper Level Seats are $8, with $1 discounts available for seniors (55+), military personnel and students with valid ID, and children under twelve. Full and partial season ticket plans as well as group packages are now available by calling the Lynx office at (706) 724-4423.
