Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies News Release

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – The Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies of the ECHL began their quest to repeat as Kelly Cup Champions this morning by completing a trade with Florence and signing a pair of rookies. The Bullies sent forward Jade Galbraith to the Pride in exchange for center Preston Mizzi, and signed forward John Longo and defenseman Pete Summerfelt. Terms of the agreements were not disclosed.

Mizzi, a fourth-round draft pick of the Phoenix Coyotes in the 1999 NHL entry draft, spent all of last season with the Pride tallying 22 goals and 35 assists in 67 games, ranking fourth on the team in scoring. The third-year pro from Sault Ste. Marie, ONT played in 27 games with the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League in 2001-02, splitting the season with the Dayton Bombers. In 138 professional games, Mizzi has accumulated 43 goals and 62 assists. Head Coach Mike Haviland is excited about what the 22-year old Mizzi brings to his team.

"Preston is a point-per-game guy," said Haviland. "He is a veteran forward that posseses great speed and has a little bit of an edge to him. This team has always been built around speed, and I think he'll fit in nicely.

On giving up Galbraith, Haviland added, "Jade is a terrific young player who had a great season for us last year. Unfortunately, in this league you have to give up a good player to get one in return.

Galbraith in his rookie year last season was second on the Bullies in scoring with 27 goals and 47 assists in 69 games.

Longo, 23, just completed a successful four-year career at the University of Vermont. The Trumbull, CT native ranked fifth on the Catamonts in scoring last season with 11 goals and 13 assists in 36 games. For his collegiate career, Longo netted 24 goals and 38 assists in 118 games.

"John is a good two-way player," said Haviland. "He can score and will certainly play a role on this team this season.

Summerfelt is a big defenseman at 6'2", 200lbs. A native of Anchorage, AK, he too just completed a successful collegiate career at Dartmouth College leading the Big Green in assists last season with 28. Summerfelt, 24, was also fifth on the team in scoring with 30 points. Overall he tallied 16 goals and 69 assists in 128 collegiate games.

"Pete's a big kid who can run the power play and fill the middle," said Haviland. "We've lost a couple of defensemen from last year's team, and I think Pete will fill one of those voids.
