Pride, Bullies Exchange Forwards
October 1, 2003 - ECHL (ECHL)
Myrtle Beach Thunderboltz News Release
FLORENCE, SC â The Florence Pride today announced that they have completed a trade with the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies. Florence sends center Preston Mizzi to Atlantic City in exchange for right wing Jade Galbraith.
Galbraith enjoyed a stellar rookie campaign last season, which culminated with the Boardwalk Bullies winning the Kelly Cup. In 69 regular-season games, the 21-year-old posted 27 goals and 47 assists for 74 points, to finish second on the club in scoring. The 47 assists were third among all ECHL rookies, and his 74 points were good for second among first-year players. Galbraith also excelled on the power play, scoring 11 of his 27 goals on the man advantage.
During the 2001-2002 season, playing for Drayton Valley in the Alberta Junior Hockey League, Galbraith led the league in scoring, posting 40 goals and 89 assists for 129 points in just 55 games. Also that season, he added 203 penalty minutes.
"I have had my eye on Jade for a long time," Pride Head Coach Perry Florio said. "He is a young kid who just loves the game of hockey. He has passion and that's what I love. To have 74 points in his rookie season is just tremendous, and we look forward to him doing the same things for us."
Last season was Mizzi's first in a Pride sweater. He appeared in 67 games, scoring 22 goals and adding 35 assists for 57 points, to go along with 84 penalty minutes. In 2001-2002, Mizzi split time between the ECHL's Dayton Bombers and the AHL's Syracuse Crunch, and was named to the ECHL All-Star Team.
Full-season tickets, mini-packages and flex-plan vouchers for the 2003-2004 season are now available. For more information, or to place your order, stop by the Pride offices, located at the Florence Civic Center, or call (843) 669-7825.
