Augusta Lynx News Release
The Augusta Lynx injected their lineup with a familiar face, bringing physical forward Ken Tasker to training camp with the club starting Saturday.
Tasker, who played for the Lynx in 2000-01, has made a career out of playing a physical style of hockey. Owner of 1,600 career penalty minutes heading into this season, the Ottawa, Ont. native saw AHL action with the Providence Bruins in 1999-00, and that same season set a career-high mark with 438 PIMs with Toledo in just 42 games.
"He'll definitely add some presence and excitement to the team," said Lynx Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Stan Drulia. "His stats speak for themselves."
Standing 6-0 and weighing 205 lbs., Tasker is a veteran of six professional seasons, spending last year with St. Hyacinthe in the QSPHL before returning to Augusta this year. He will report to Lynx camp along with over 20 other players, with workouts beginning Saturday, October 4th.
The Lynx will play two pre-season games against the expansion Gwinnett Gladiators this year. The first game is Friday, October 10th at Gwinnett and will be closed to the public. The second half of the home and home will return to the Augusta Richmond County Civic Center on Saturday, October 11th at 7:35 pm. Augusta will then open the 2003-04 Season against the Florida Everblades on Friday, October 17th at 7:35 pm. Single game seats go on sale this Saturday, October 4th at 10 am through the Civic Center Box Office, all TicketMaster locations, on line at www.TicketMaster.com, or charge by phone at (706) 828-7700. Lower Bowl Seats are $12, Second Level Seats are $10, and Upper Level Seats are $8, with $1 discounts available for seniors (55+), military personnel and students with valid ID, and children under twelve.
