BILOXI, Miss. – Mississippi Sea Wolves coach and director of hockey operations Bob Woods announced today that right wing Steffon Walby (STEHF-in WAHL-bee) has re-signed for the 2003-04 season.

Walby, 30, enters his 11th year of pro hockey and third season as the Player/Assistant Coach with the Sea Wolves. Over the past two seasons, he has received numerous league honors, highlighted by being named to the All-ECHL First Team Right Wing in consecutive years. Walby was also named starter and team captain for the Southern Conference at the 2003 ECHL All-Star Game. The 6-foot, 200-pound native of Lodi, Wisconsin was also named the Sea Wolves Most Valuable Player for both the 2001-02 and 2002-03 seasons. He tallied 42 goals in back-to-back seasons, tying his own Sea Wolves record, and notched a new team standard by registering 93 points (42g-51a) in the 2001-02 season. During the 2002-03 campaign, Walby continued to set new team records by collecting 10 game-winning goals, 18 power play goals and seven short-handed goals.

"It's sure great to be back with Mississippi," said Walby. "I'm really looking forward to being part of a great and exciting Sea Wolves team this season and try to take care of some unfinished business."

"Steffon is a big part of our team and hockey operations staff," said Woods. "We're looking for Walby to continue to have the same success on the ice this year, that he has had the past two seasons."

The puck drops on the Sea Wolves eighth ECHL season on Friday, October 17 at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum in Biloxi against the Louisiana IceGators.
