The Thunder closed out a three-in-three at Quad City with a 5-2 loss.
RIVALRY RENEWED - Wichita will play the Colorado Eagles this weekend for the first time in four seasons. The two teams had some heated battles in the early 2000's and met in consecutive playoffs when both were members of the Central Hockey League. FAMILIAR FACE - Head Coach Kevin McClelland is no stranger to Colorado, having coached in Loveland for two seasons. From 2008-10, McClelland went 87-30-11 in 128 games as the bench boss for the Eagles. He was hired by Wichita in 2010-11 after leaving Colorado.
ROSTER MOVES - Wichita had two roster moves in preparation for the weekend. Kenton Miller received a call up to the Ontario Reign of the American Hockey League on Thursday. Miller, 24, got a similar call up to Manchester last season when they were the primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings. The Thunder also acquired forward Todd Fiddler from Atlanta for future considerations. Fiddler appeared in 50 games last season for the Quad City Mallards before being sent to the Ontario Reign to complete a previous trade. He can also be remembered to Thunder fans for the glass-breaking hit last season on Theo Peckham around the holidays.
