October 30, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Brampton Beast News Release
BRAMPTON, ON - Luke Pither earned the respect of the fans and his new teammates as he lit the lamp in his first game with the Brampton Beast, but the Toledo Walleye played a stellar defensive game to earn a 4-1 win at the Powerade Centre on Friday night.
Eddie Pasquale continues to get better with each game he plays and finished the game with 23 saves.
After a scoreless opening frame, the Walleye were the first to find the back of the net as Michael Leone beat Pasquale just under two minutes into the second frame.
Toledo pushed the lead to two before the end of the second as Marek Tverdon notched his fourth goal of the year on the power play at 12:55.
Less than three minutes later, the Beast finally found a way to beat the red-hot Walleye goaltender Jeff Lerg. Scott Howes located the puck at the side of the net and placed a perfect pass on the stick of a streaking Pither, who made no mistake on the one-timer to cut into the deficit on the power play at 15:37.
The Beast played a consistent, three-period game as they threw a total of 36 shots on net, including 13 in the first, another 12 in the second period and 11 in the third, but only managed to squeak one goal behind Lerg.
The Walleye got a pair of empty-netters from Tyler Sikura and Kyle Bonis in the final minute to end the scoring.
Notes: The Beast finished the game 1-for-4 on the power play and 2-for-3 on the penalty kill. Molson Three Stars: 3) Eddie Pasquale 2) Luke Pither 1) Jeff Lerg. With an assist in tonight's game, Mathew Maione now has three points in his last two games and five points in his last four games. Scott Howes led the Beast with five shots on goal.
The Beast and the Walleye will face off again on Sunday, November 1 at 2PM at the Powerade Centre. Single game tickets are now available, starting at $16.25. Trial Packs for the 2015-16 season are also available starting at $39.99 that include three game tickets.
