Atlanta Gladiators News Release

DULUTH, GEORGIA - Defenseman Max Iafrate and forward Eric Neiley have been assigned to the Atlanta Gladiators by the Providence Bruins, the team announced on Friday.

Playing in his first full season in professional hockey, Iafrate, 21, has skated in two games for Providence. The Livonia, MI native made his pro debut last year as he appeared in one game for the Lake Erie Monsters of the AHL after his major junior team, the Kitchener Rangers, were eliminated from the OHL playoffs. In five OHL seasons for the Plymouth Whalers and Kitchener Rangers, the 6-foot-2, 218-pound defenseman earned 97 points in 287 games played. The rookie defender is the son of former NHL defenseman Al Iafrate, a first round pick in the 1984 NHL Entry Draft, who scored 152 goals and 463 total points over a 15-year career.

Neiley, 23, began his rookie season by playing three games for the P-Bruins. The 5-foot-11, 190-pound forward first appeared for Providence at the end of last season in one game after completing his senior season at Dartmouth College of the NCAA. The Warminster, PA native compiled an impressive collegiate career for the Big Green with 94 points in 129 games. During his senior year in 2014-15, Neiley was the only player in the NCAA to lead his team in five statistical categories. The right-handed center was first on Dartmouth in goals (14), assists (16), points (30), game-winning goals (6) and penalty minutes (36).

To accommodate the above roster additions, defenseman Drew Baker has been released from his standard professional contract. The Alpharetta, GA native had an assist in three games played for the Gladiators this season.

The Atlanta Gladiators 13th season is now underway at The Arena at Infinite Energy Center. Join the Gladiators for their next home game on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at 7:05 PM.
