Forward Austin Fyten Called-Up by Hershey Bears

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC- The South Carolina Stingrays, celebrating 23 seasons in the Lowcountry and proud affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League (NHL), announced that forward Austin Fyten has been called-up to the club's American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Hershey Bears.

Fyten, 24, has played in all six games this season for the Stingrays, scoring three points (one goal, two assists). Fyten notched his first goal with the Stingrays in the club's 4-2 win over Florida on Wednesday.

The 6-foot-2, 200-pound Fyten was assigned to the Stingrays by Hershey in September. He spent all of last season in the AHL with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms where he amassed 11 points (two goals, nine assists) in 64 games. He has played in 122 AHL games in his career with Lehigh Valley, Texas and Oklahoma City.

The Stingrays finish up a two-game trip to Florida tonight with a 7:30 p.m. game against the Everblades at Germain Arena. Fans can watch the game at the Official Watch Party Destination of the Stingrays, King Street Grille-Northwoods.

South Carolina returns home Sunday at 3:05 p.m. versus Evansville. It's Kids Kickin' Cancer with Camp Happy Days presented by APECS and South Carolina Stingrays.
