Game Day Build-Up: Senators at Griffins, January 12
January 12, 2019 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Belleville Senators News Release
The set-up
The Belleville Senators will look to match its season high three-game winning streak tonight as they face the Grand Rapids Griffins for the final time this season.
Belleville (18-20-2-0) collected a massive two points Friday over the Griffins to stay in the playoff hunt. The Sens leapfrogged Laval into seventh place in the North but still sit five points out of fourth place Toronto.
Grand Rapids (20-12-3-4) remain third in the Central Division despite the loss Friday.
Friday's win was just the sixth victory in 20 road games for Belleville. The team also snapped an 0-for-22 on the power play last night.
Roster notes
Nothing new for the Senators overnight but will once again do battle without Jim O'Brien, Andrew Sturtz, Andreas Englund and Aaron Luchuk who are out injured.
Filip Gustavsson started Wednesday and Friday's game so logic says that Jake Paterson will start tonight against his old team but there are no guarantees on that from head coach Troy Mann.
Previous history
After Friday's victory, Belleville is 2-1 against the Griffins this season. Tonight is the final match-up of the year between the two sides.
Who to watch
Logan Brown had an assist, and more importantly, the shootout winner Friday night for the Sens. The rookie forward has 16 points in 25 games this season and has four points in his last three games.
Filip Zadina had three points Friday night to push his season point total to 20 points in 29 games. He sits fifth in scoring for Grand Rapids.
Where to watch
Saturday's game starts at 7:00pm and can be seen on AHLTV as part of a free preview. Fans can also watch tonight's contest at Shoeless Joe's in Belleville.
The radio broadcast on CJBQ 800 begins at 6:50pm with Jack Miller on the call.
