Game #8: Tucson at Henderson
November 6, 2021 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Tucson Roadrunners News Release
The Tucson Roadrunners are back at it with the Henderson Silver Knights on Saturday, as they'll wrap up a two-game series in Las Vegas at the Orleans Arena. Tucson is looking to bounce back after a 3-0 loss to the Silver Knights where the Roadrunners were limited by penalties and time spent defending the Henderson power-play. Special teams will be key for Tucson, as two of the three goals for the Silver Knights Friday were scored on the man advantage.
Three Things
1) While the Roadrunners were held scoreless in Friday's series opener with Henderson, goaltender Ivan Prosvetov made a flurry of saves that kept the game from getting further out of hand. After conceding two goals early in the first period, with one coming on the power-play, Prosvetov shut down the Silver Knights for the next 43:15. The 22-year-old returned to the Tucson roster after he started one game for the Arizona Coyotes this season, where he made 23 saves. Prosvetov is now 2-2 on the season for Tucson with two shutouts to begin his third year with the team.
2) A pair of 2021-2022 Tucson Roadrunners made their NHL debuts Friday night with the Arizona Coyotes, as they took on the Anaheim Ducks. Defenseman Cam Dineen and forward Ben McCartney became the fourth and fifth Roadrunners to be recalled to the Coyotes this season, and the 40th and 41st players in franchise history to suit up for both the Roadrunners and Coyotes. They join defenseman Dysin Mayo as Roadrunners to make their NHL debuts this season, and Mayo played alongside the two in Anaheim Friday night.
3) The Roadrunners are no strangers to bouncing back after a loss, as Tucson has a 2-1 record so far this season immediately after a defeat, with a hat trick in each of the two wins. The Roadrunners won 4-0 against the Texas Stars in their Home Opener after falling to the Stockton Heat 3-2 the weekend before, and Ben McCartney recorded his first professional hat trick. The next weekend, after dropping the first game of the series with the San Diego Gulls 5-1, the Roadrunners came back and won 6-4, behind a five-point performance by Hudson Fasching.
What's The Word?
Tucson Roadrunners forward Blake Speers on playing another game with the Henderson Silver Knights after Friday night's 3-0 loss:
"It's obviously an opportunity for us to show we can bounce back and show some resiliency. I think there's some things we want to clean up, and it's a great opportunity to come back at it and show what we can do."
Number to Know
17 - The number worn by newest Roadrunners forward Terry Broadhurst. Broadhurst joined the Tucson roster earlier in the week, becoming the most experienced player on the team with over 450 games played at the professional level. The 32-year-old has played with five other AHL teams dating back to the 2011-2012 season, including four with the Rockford Ice Hogs.
We're Doing It Live
Tonight's game will be broadcast live on AHLtv, as well as on the radio on Fox Sports 1450AM, or on the iHeartRadio app. Coverage begins at 6:45 p.m. MST with Roadrunners Warm-Up, as Jimmy Peebles gets you ready for the game before "Voice of the Roadrunners" Adrian Denny has the call at 7:00 p.m. live from the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.
