
Felix Doubront Assigned to Sea Dogs

Portland, Maine- The Boston Red Sox have assigned left-handed pitcher Felix Doubront to the Portland Sea Dogs. Doubront is scheduled to start for the Sea Dogs this afternoon (Monday, July 11th) at 12:05 PM against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats in Manchester, New Hampshire. Sea Dogs' right-handed pitcher Stolmy Pimentel was transferred to Single-A Salem.
Doubront has appeared in three games for the Red Sox this season with a 0-0 record and a 6.75 ERA. He was assigned to Triple-A Pawtucket on April 18th. In 12 games with the Triple-A PawSox the lefty notched a 1-3 record with a 3.38 ERA.
The 23 year-old has spent parts of two season with the Sea Dogs and in 2009 was named the Sea Dogs pitcher of the year posting an 8-6 record with a 3.35 ERA. In 2010, he opened the season with the Sea Dogs and notched a 4-0 record with a 2.51 ERA in eight games before being promoted to Triple-A Pawtucket and eventually to Boston. In 2010, he made 12 appearances with the Red Sox with a 2-2 record and a 4.12 ERA.
In 15 games with the Sea Dogs this season, Stolmy Pimentel is 0-9 with a 9.12 ERA. The 21 year-old entered the season as the sixth ranked Red Sox prospect, according to Baseball America. Baseball America also rates him as having the "Best Changeup" amongst Red Sox farmhands. The Dominican Republican native was signed by the Red Sox as an international free agent on July 2, 2006.
The Sea Dogs will be off Tuesday and Wednesday for the Eastern League All-Star Break. The Sea Dogs will return to Hadlock Field after the All-Star break on Thursday, July 14th at 7:00 PM against the New Britain Rock Cats. The first 1,000 fans to enter the ballpark will receive a Clay Buchholz bobblehead doll courtesy of Bath Savings Institution.
