
Rock Cats Have Three Transactions Today

New Britain, CT - The New Britain Rock Cats of the Eastern League made three roster moves today on the eve of the circuit's annual All-Star break. The transactions have two Catchers and one Pitcher on the move.
The details:
RHP Matt Schuld, a 23-year-old native of St. Paul, MN, has been summoned to New Britain from Ft. Myers in the Florida State League. The 6"3"/210-pound hurler was signed as a Free Agent in 2010 after graduating from St. Thomas College in Minnesota where he was both an D3 All-American in Baseball and an Academic All-American. He led his team to the Division III NCAA National Championship in 2010 and transitioned from St. Thomas with a career 30-5 mound mark. With the Miracle in 2011, Schuld made 15 appearances (11 starts) and arrives in Connecticut today with a 4-1 record and 3.99 ERA. He will likely be New Britain's starting Pitcher tonight.
C Jair Fernandez, a 24-year-old native of Cartegena, Columbia, is rejoining New Britain after having been with Rochester in the International League for the past two weeks. While in New York, the 6'1"/205-pound receiver appeared in 10 games at the AAA level and hit .241 with 4 Doubles and 5 RBI. While in New Britain prior to his promotion to the Red Wings, the six-year pro played in 11 games and hit .242 with 1 HR, 2 Doubles and 6 RBI. He will be in New Britain in time for the Rock Cats' 7:05 PM game against Binghamton tonight.
C Daniel Rohlfing, a 22-year-old native of St. Louis, MO, has been assigned to Ft. Myers in the Single-A Florida State League. The 6'0"/185-pound receiver was selected out of high school by Minnesota in the 14th Round of the 2007 Draft. The left-handed hitter appeared in 56 games for New Britain in 2011 and departs for Florida with a Double-A batting average of .247 BA.
