Altoona Curve News Release
CURVE, Pa. - The Altoona Curve, Double-A affiliates of the Pittsburgh Pirates, are giving its fans even more of a reason to cheer for 2005 Curve MVP Jose Bautista in tonight's MLB Home Run Derby because when the former Curve third basemen advances in the competition, fans will be able to take advantage of special ticket discounts to the Friday, July 22nd 7 p.m. Curve game where the first 1,000 fans through the gates will receive a Jose Bautista Silver Slugger Figurine thanks to Peoples Natural Gas.
If Bautista, who enters the competition leading the Majors in home runs with 31, advances past the first round, fans will receive a $1 discount on tickets in the UPMC Health Plan Home Run Junction bleacher section, located in home run territory beyond the left field wall. Should Bautista advance past the second round of the competition and into the Finals, fans will receive a $2 discount and if Bautista wins the competition, fans will get a $4 discount on tickets in the UPMC Health Plan Home Run Junction bleacher section, making tickets only $1. Tickets in the UPMC Health Plan Home Run Junction bleachers normally cost only $5 without any discount and all discounts are valid for only the July 22nd game against the New Britain Rock Cats in this section only.
In 2005, Bautista blasted a total of 23 home runs as a member of the Altoona Curve and it's only fitting for fans to receive a special discount in the UPMC Health Plan Home Run Junction bleacher section should Bautista advance past the competition in the 2011 MLB Home Run Derby, set to take place in Phoenix at 8 p.m. tonight as part of All-Star Week.
In honor of his league-leading 54 home runs last season, the largest single-season total since 2007, the Curve will be giving away Jose Bautista Silver Slugger Figurines to the first 1,000 fans through the gates on Friday, July 22nd for their 7 p.m. game with the Rock Cats thanks to Peoples Natural Gas.
Altoona is currently on break for the All-Star Break as the E.L. All-Star Game will take place in Manchester, N.H. at 7:05 p.m. on Wednesday at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.
The Curve will be back in action beginning at 7:05 p.m. on Thursday night from Jerry Uht Park in Erie, where they will play four games before heading to Akron to wrap a seven-game road trip. Altoona returns home for a four-game homestand beginning July 21st at 7 p.m. when the New Britain Rock Cats make their way to Curve, Pa.
