Falcons Acquire Grimaldi from Elmira

Fresno, Calif. - The Fresno Falcons announced today that the team has acquired defenseman Joe Grimaldi from the Elmira Jackals as the future considerations in the trade that sent Bryan Rodney to Elmira on December 3.

Grimaldi has skated in 36 games with Elmira this season, scoring two goals and adding 12 assists for 14 points, while also posting a +6 rating and 53 penalty minutes. The 21-year-old rookie has also appeared in 3 AHL games with Rochester and Albany.

He spent the previous two seasons with the Ottawa 67's of the Ontario Hockey League, where he scored nine goals and added 48 assists in 92 games. Last season, Grimaldi finished seventh on the 67's with 36 points, and led the team with 185 penalty minutes. He has also played college hockey at the University of Nebraska-Omaha, and in the NAHL with the U.S. Under-18 Team.

The Falcons are back in action on Wednesday, opening a four-game road trip in Stockton with a 7:00 p.m. face-off. Catch all of the action on 790 ESPN Radio, The Deuce, starting with the Port of Subs Pre-Game Show at 6:45.

Fresno returns home on Friday, January 25, hosting the Idaho Steelheads at 7:30 p.m. The first 2,000 fans in attendance receive a Falcons All Star Poster courtesy of Dumont Printing, ABC 30, 95.7 The Fox, and the Central Valley Business Incubator. Following the game, join the Falcons players for a post-game party at Logan's Roadhouse, located at 7507 N. Blackstone Avenue.
