Idaho Steelheads News Release

BOISE, Idaho - The Idaho Steelheads will kick off the Pepsi "Future Stars" Jersey Auction benefiting the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) this weekend at Qwest Arena. As the Steelheads begin a two-game set against the Alaska Aces Friday, the players will look like the team's National Hockey League affiliate Dallas Stars as they take to the ice wearing replica jerseys. Alaska players will don their NHL affiliate St. Louis Blues jerseys.

Dallas is doing its part to bring an NHL atmosphere to Steelheads fans by providing the Stars' game day music, videos and goal horn. Additionally, Steelheads players will be introduced as Dallas Stars.

Fans will have the opportunity to bid on their favorite players' jerseys, which will start at $200 and can be bought outright for $1,500. The two teams will wear the jerseys again in Alaska in early February to allow the Aces the opportunity to auction their jerseys for charity. The players will pose for a photo with the winning fans after this Saturday's game; however, they won't receive the jerseys until the team's return from Alaska.

This auction marks the sixth year the Steelheads and Pepsi have teamed up for the MDA. In five years, the auction has raised $52,465.
