ESTERO, FL - The Florida Everblades finished out this past week of action with a 1-2-0 record. The 'Blades enter this week's action with a record of 12-11-0 (24 pts., T-2nd South Division).

THIS WEEK (All Times Eastern)

Tuesday, December 14 vs. Pensacola Ice Pilots 7:30 p.m.

GAME NOTES: Everblades and Ice Pilots meet for the second of eight times this season, and for the first of four times at Germain Arena. The Ice Pilots lead the season series 1-0-0 after a 5-4 victory over the 'Blades on Oct. 30 in Pensacola. Last year the Everblades finished with a 2-3-2 record vs. Pensacola, including going 1-1-2 on home ice. The Ice Pilots enter this week's action with a record of 11-7-2 (24 pts., T-2nd South Division), and have won their last two games. The Everblades hold an all-time record of 22-10-6 vs. Pensacola.

Friday & Saturday, December 17 & 18 vs. Augusta Lynx Both games at 7:30 p.m.

GAME NOTES: The 'Blades and Augusta meet for the first two games of seven total this weekend. Florida will host four of the seven matchups this year. Following this weekend's games, the two teams will meet at Germain Arena again on Jan. 18 & Feb 1. The final three games of the season series will take place in Augusta on Feb. 4, 5, & 11. Last year the 'Blades finished with an overall record of 2-3-3 vs. Augusta, and a home record of 1-1-2 vs. the Lynx. The Lynx enter this week with a record of 7-13-2 (16 pts., 6th East Division). Florida holds an all-time record of 29-9-3 vs. Augusta.

LAST WEEK'S RESULTS

Tuesday, December 7 at Gwinnett 5-2 W

The Everblades won their season-high sixth straight game on Tuesday with a 5-2 win over the Gwinnett Gladiators. The win was also Florida's fourth straight on the road, as the 'Blades used two early first period goals by Matt Hendricks to set the tone. Brad Church extended the Everblades lead to 3-0 at the six-minute mark of the second period before the Gladiators got on the board. However, the Everblades regained their three-goal lead on Keith Anderson's break-away goal at 11:30 of the middle period. Gwinnett cut the 'Blades lead in half with a 5-on-3 power play goal midway through the third period, but Kris Vernarsky sealed the victory with 27 seconds remaining with an empty-net tally. Goaltender Craig Kowalski won his fifth straight game between the pipes for Florida by stopping 45 of 47 Gwinnett shots, bringing his record to 8-4-0. The Everblades hold a 2-0-0 record in the season series. Florida special teams: PP: 1-for-6, PK: 5-for-5.

Friday, December 10 vs. South Carolina 2-1 L

The Everblades saw their six-game win streak come to an end on Friday night with a 2-1 loss to the South Carolina Stingrays. All the scoring took place in the second period with Brad Church opening the scoring for Florida at 2:25 of the middle stanza. The Stingrays followed that with a pair of goals in the final 15 minutes of the second period to open the 2-1 lead. Despite heavily out shooting South Carolina 17-4 in the third period, the 'Blades couldn't find the tying goal over the final 20 minutes. Craig Kowalski saw his personal five-game winning streak snapped in goal for Florida by allowing two goals on 23 shots. Florida special teams: PP: 0-for-5, PK: 3-for-3.

Saturday, December 11 vs. South Carolina 3-0 L

The Everblades suffered their second shutout of the season with a 3-0 loss to the Stingrays on Saturday night. Florida out shot South Carolina 45-25 but the Stingrays stymied the 'Blades with strong goaltending by goaltender Kirk Daubenspeck, who earned his second shutout of the season. South Carolina collected two first period power play goals and added an even strength goal in the second period for the win. The win was South Carolina's third straight, and knocked the Everblades to their second straight loss. Florida special teams: PP: 0-for-6, PK: 3-for-5.

Weekly Award Nominee's: This week's ECHL Player of the Week nominee is forward Brad Church who notched two goals and three assists in three games this past week. This week's Goaltender of the Week nominee is Craig Kowalski was 1-1-0 this past week with a 2.00 GAA.

Streaking!: Everblades rookie forward Matt Hendricks has picked up a point in five of the last seven games (5g, 4a)...Brent McDonald has points in four of the last seven games (5g, 2a)...Steve Saviano has collected points in three of the last five games (0g, 5a)...David Lundbohm has notched a point in four of the last six games (2g, 2a)...Tim O'Connell has earned a point in the last four of the last six games (1g, 4a), and is a plus-12 over the last seven games...Brad Church is currently has earned points in four of the last five games (2g, 6a)...Craig Kowalski has won his last five of his last six starts.

Roster Changes: The 'Blades had some different looks to roster when it returned to the ice last week. Added to the roster were defensemen Bryce Charpentier and Shane Hnidy, while gone from the roster were forwards Ernie Hartlieb and Jim Abbott, along with defenseman Ed Hill. Charpentier was picked up by the 'Blades in a trade with Peoria, which sent Hill to the Rivermen in return. Hartlieb was called up the the AHL's Grand Rapid's Griffins; Abbott was traded to the Idaho Steelheads for financial considerations; and Hnidy, who has spent the past four seasons in the NHL with Ottawa and Nashville, was signed to a contract earlier this week.

All-Time Record!: On Saturday, Nov. 27, the Everblades matched an all-time franchise record for fewest penalty minutes in a game. The 'Blades didn't have a single penalty called against them by referee Jamie Koharski during the entire game. As a matter of fact, there were only two minor penalties called in the contest. The zero penalty minutes in one game matched the 'Blades total on Dec. 23, 1999 vs. Tallahassee.

League Leaders: Matt Hendricks enters this week's action ranked tied for seventh in the ECHL in scoring with his 23 points. He is also tied for third in scoring among all ECHL rookies. Hendricks' 11 goals is third among ECHL rookies, while his 12 assists has his fifth among first-year players...Brad Church & Damian Surma are the top two in the ECHL in plus/minus. Church leads the league with a plus-17 while Surma ranks second with a plus-13...Matt Pagnutti is tied for 10th among ECHL defenseman in scoring with 12 points.

Milestones Accomplished: Several 'Blades players have reached milestones this season, here's a look at what they've accomplished: Rob Zepp played in his 100th career game as an Everblade on Dec. 11 vs. South Carolina, and reached the 100 games played mark in his pro career on Nov. 5 at Long Beach...Brad Chuch and Matt Pagnutti reached the 500 games played mark in their careers on Nov. 26 against Greenville. Each player saw their pro career start in 1996-97...Tim O'Connell skated in his 300th professional game on Dec. 7 against Gwinnett...Keith Anderson reached the 200 career games played plateau on Oct. 30 vs. Pensacola.

Approaching Milestones: In addition, a couple Everblades players are closing in on milestones, here's a look at who's doing what: Brad Chuch is one point away from collecting his 300th career professional point...Brent McDonald is needs to play in 22 more games to reach the 300 games played plateau in his career.

Special Teams: Entering this week, here's a look at the Everblades special teams: Power Play: Overall: 28th (9-for-98), 9.2%; Home: 26th, 8.3%; Road: 26th, 10.5%. Penalty Kill: Overall: 28th (62-for-86), 72.1%; HHome: 27th, 72.9%; Road: 28th, 71.1%.

Coach's Show: The Florida Everblades weekly coach's show, "Blades Talk" will return on Monday, December 13, at Stevie Tomato's Sports Page in Cape Coral. The show will run live from 7-8 p.m. and can be heard live on SportsRadio 770 AM. The weekly Monday night show features the "voice" of the Florida Everblades Kevin Reiter along with 'Blades head coach Gerry Fleming. This week, assistant coach Jason Nobili will join the show. Fans are encouraged to attend!
