Wildcatters drop a pair over weekend

Beaumont, TX (December 13, 2004) – The Texas Wildcatters, an affiliate of the Florida Panthers (NHL) and San Antonio Rampage (AHL), played two games this weekend, posting a 0-2 record.

On Friday, the Wildcatters were shut out against the Pensacola Ice Pilots. Netminder Phil Osaer faced 37 shots turning aside 35 as the ‘Catters lost 2-0.

On Saturday, the Wildcatters had a rematch against the Ice Pilots in Texas but lost for the second time in as many nights by a score of 3-2. Ryan Fultz scored the first Texas goal on a great effort by Terry Marchant. The tying Texas goal came from Tony Lawrence, who scored the team's second short-handed goal of the season. Phil Osaer faced 29 shots.

The Wildcatters have four days of practice before traveling to Louisiana for a game against the IceGators on Friday. The team returns to Ford Arena for two games against the Charlotte Checkers on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday's game will be at 7:05, Sunday's game will be at 5:05.

Shooting Gallery

The Wildcatters set records for the most shots in a period with 22 in the first period against Pensacola on Friday. They rang up a new team record for shots in a game finishing the night with 45 shots. The old team record for shots in a game was 42 against the San Diego Gulls 2/14/04.

Home Sweet Home

Starting Saturday night the Wildcatters will begin an eight game home-stand that will stretch through Christmas until January 9th. The Charlotte Checkers and the Reading Royals make their first appearance at Ford Arena, during the home-stand.

Tough Assignment

San Antonio tough guy Grant McNeill was assigned to the Texas Wildcatters. McNeill has played in 12 games with the Rampage and is tied for the team lead in penalty minutes with 44.
