
Rivermen Win Season-High Four Straight Games

Posting a 4-3 wins at Dayton on Friday and a 4-3 win against Dayton on
Saturday, Peoria extended its winning streak to a season-best four games
and evened their home record at 4-4-2. The Rivermen, who had not won
back-to-back games this season until the current streak, are 7-9-3 and in
eighth place in the North Division of the National Conference, one point
behind Dayton (9-12-0) and 15 points behind leader Atlantic City (14-5-4).
Peoria will host Toledo on Friday and then travels to Wheeling for games
on Saturday and Sunday. The Rivermen are 0-1-0 at home and 2-1-1 overall
against Toledo and 0-1-0 at Wheeling and 1-1-1 overall against the Nailers.
In his last four games, rookie goaltender Chris Beckford-Tseu is 4-0-0
with a shutout, a goals-against average of 2.50 and a save percentage of
.917. Selected in the fifth round (159th overall) by St. Louis in the 2003
NHL Entry Draft and under contract to Worcester of the American Hockey
League, the 20-year-old Beckford-Tseu has improved his record to 5-6-1
while lowering his goals-against average to 2.75 and raising his save
percentage to .906.
During the winning streak, Trevor Baker leads Peoria with three goals,
including a game winner and a shorthand goal, and his five points tie him
for the scoring lead with Brian McCullough has two goals, including a game
winner, and three assists. Defenseman James Sanford, who is under contract
to Hamilton of the American Hockey League, had a career-high three assists
on Saturday, giving him four points in his last two games.
McCullough, who has been selected to the ECHL All-Star Game three times,
leads the Rivermen with seven goals and 15 points and he is tied for the
team lead with two game-winning goals and eight assists.
Pride's Boucher Posts Back-To-Back Shutouts
Nick Boucher of Pee Dee made 34 saves in a 3-0 win at Augusta on Friday and
stopped 25 shots in a 4-0 win against Louisiana on Saturday, becoming the
fifth ECHL goaltender this season to post back-to-back shutouts.
The other goaltenders with back-to-back shutouts are Boucher's teammate
Sebastien LaPlante (November 13 and 19), Idaho's Frank Doyle (November 24
and 27), Reading's Cody Rudkowsky (November 12 and 13) and Wheeling's Dany
Sabourin (November 5 and 6).
With LaPlante on injured reserve since November 21, Boucher, who has not
allowed a goal in the last 147:20, has started 10 consecutive games for the
Pride, going 7-2-1 with three shutouts, a goals-against average of 1.82 and
a save percentage of .940. In 18 games, the 23-year-old Boucher is 9-4-2
with a save percentage of .932 while ranking seventh in the league with a
goals-against average of 2.03. Selected in the ninth round (280th overall)
by Pittsburgh in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, Boucher is tied for second in
shutouts (3), ranks third in minutes (944), ranks fourth in saves (436) and
is tied for fourth in wins (9).
In the first 291 games of the season, there have been 43 shutouts by 28
goaltenders. Dany Sabourin of Wheeling leads the league with four shutouts
while Boucher and Chris Madden of Long Beach are tied for second with three
shutouts apiece and eight goaltenders are tied for fourth with two shutouts
each.
Pee Dee leads the league with five shutouts while Long Beach and Wheeling
are tied for second with four shutouts each. Eight teams (Bakersfield,
Charlotte, Dayton, Greenville, Johnstown, Mississippi, San Diego and
Trenton) have not recorded a shutout. Wheeling has been shut out a
league-leading four times while Alaska, Dayton, Las Vegas Reading and Texas
have been shut out three times each. Eight teams (Atlantic City,
Bakersfield, Charlotte, Gwinnett, Johnstown, Toledo, Trenton and Victoria)
have not been shut out.
Chiefs' Mather Scores Goal In Five Consecutive Games,
Victoria's Barrie Scores Point In 11 Games In A Row
Shawn Mather of Johnstown has scored a goal in his last five games, tying
the league season-high for consecutive games with a goal scored. The others
with five-game goal-scoring streaks are Chris Kenady of Long Beach (6 goals
from November 19-26), Tyler Kolarik of Dayton (5 goals from November
24-December 10) and Scott Burt of Idaho (five goals from November 5-19).
Mike Barrie of Victoria entered Monday's game against Mississippi with an
11-game scoring streak, the second-longest scoring streak in the ECHL this
season. Barrie has scored 18 points (3g-15a) during the streak and leads
Victoria in assists (16), points (20), power-play assists (9) and
power-play points (12). The longest scoring streak of the season is 12
games by Mike Harder of Charlotte, who scored 18 points (6g-12a) from
October 22-November 20.
Pride's Sirois Reaches 500 Points
Allan Sirois had two assists in Pee Dee's 4-0 win against Louisiana on
Saturday. The first assist was the 500th regular-season career point while
the second assist was the 500th regular-season point of his ECHL career. In
his seventh season with Pee Dee and his ninth season in the ECHL, the
29-year-old Sirois has scored 500 points (211g-289a) in 563 career regular
season ECHL games and 36 points (14g-22a) in 44 career Kelly Cup Playoff
games. In seven career games in the American Hockey League with Worcester,
Sirois has scored one goal. Sirois started the 2002 ECHL All-Star Game and
scored two goals, including the game winner, and added an assist while
earning MVP honors.
