Mississippi Wraps Up Canadian Stop Tonight; Head To Alaska For Three

BILOXI, Miss. – The Mississippi Sea Wolves posted a 1-1-0 record in two games last week in the first-ever visit to Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.

The host Victoria Salmon Kings downed Mississippi 5-1 on Friday at Bear Mountain Arena, which is located in Victoria suburb of Colwood. On Saturday, the Sea Wolves bounced back with a 4-3 overtime win.

After 20 of 72 regular season ECHL games, the Sea Wolves are 8-10-2 and have earned 18 points. Mississippi is 6-5-1 at home, 2-5-1 on the road, 1-1 in overtime games and 2-1 in shootouts.

Mississippi is in fifth place in the ECHL's South Division and sits in 10th position in the 12-team American Conference, five points out of a playoff spot.

The Sea Wolves complete their three-game set in Victoria tonight with the opening faceoff beginning at 9 p.m. CT before traveling to Anchorage, Alaska to play games on Friday, Saturday and Sunday against the Aces.

The 6-foot and 205-pound Hutchins netted a goal in Friday's loss at Victoria and then tallied two, including the overtime game-winner on Saturday. A native of Toronto, Ontario, Hutchins leads Mississippi with four power-play goals, 12 goals overall and a plus/minus rating of +5. He also is tied for the team-lead with 19 points and one shorthand goal.

GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK – Matt Underhill appeared in both Mississippi games at Victoria posting a 1-1-0 record. A native of Campbell River, British Columbia, Underhill stopped 48-of-56 total shots over the two games. The 25-year-old Underhill has compiled a 3-4-2 record in nine games along with a 3.20 goals against average and .906 save percentage.
