Colorado Eagles News Release
LOVELAND, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles (7-3-0-0) came up short of the Idaho Steelheads (7-2-1-0), 7-3, in their third match-up on Saturday night at the Budweiser Events Center. The Eagles went 2-1 against the Steelheads in this home series.
Less than two minutes into the first period Steelheads forward Jason Bast took a cross-slot feed from linemate Alex Belzile to give Idaho the early 1-0 advantage. One minute later, forward David
de Kastrozza pumped the Steelheads lead to 2-0, beating Eagles netminder Kent Simpson.
Idaho forward Colton Beck sent a slapshot past Simpson to advance their lead to 3-0, 47 seconds into the second frame. At the 13:01 mark, Bast picked up his second goal of the night with help from forwards James Livingston and Beck to take the 4-0 lead over the Eagles.
The Eagles first goal came just 21 seconds into the third period as forward Nick Craven spun around by the boards and threw the puck on-net to slide it past Idaho goalie Olivier Roy to avoid the shutout, 4-1. Steelheads answered just over two minutes later with a quick goal by forward Wade MacLeod adding to their lead, 5-1. Eagles defenseman Collin Bowman caught a pass from forward Jordan Kwas at the top of the crease to net Colorado's second goal of the night, 11:43 into the third stanza, delivering another hit to Idaho's lead, 5-2. Less than a minute later, Eagles forward Brock Nixon cut into the Steelheads lead once more, 5-3, from the low slot. With only 50 seconds left in the third period, Idaho's de Kastrozza scored on an empty net to take the 6-3 lead. Bast finalized the 7-3 victory, for the Steelheads with only 20 seconds left on the clock.
