DULUTH, Ga. - The Gladiators (3-3-0-0) will face their biggest test of the young season when they host the East Division leaders, the Florida Everblades (6-1-0-0) at The Arena at Gwinnett Center Saturday night. Since dropping their second game of the season, Florida has won five straight by an average margin of three goals. They are also 4-0 on the road this year.
Ahead of Veterans' Day, the Gladiators will be honoring those who have served our country tonight with Military Appreciation Night. USCG Lt. Paul Hennelly, USA SFC K.C. York, USN PO3 Henry Huecker, USAF MSG Rick Gripentrog, and Forsyth County Deputy Sheriff Daniel Rush will all be honored at the game.
Glads Notes:
There's No Place Like Home Ice: The Gladiators have won seven of their last ten at The Arena at Gwinnett Center, and 10 of their last 14, dating back to February 25th.
First Up: This season, the Gladiators are 3-0 when scoring first, and 3-0 when leading after the first and second periods. This continues a trend from last season, when the team was markedly better when scoring first (22-13-2-0), and leading after the first (16-6-0-0) and second (21-0-0-0) periods.
Gladiators Ahoy: Four players currently on the Gladiators roster have been assigned from their AHL affiliate, the Portland Pirates- Jordon Southorn, Greg Carey, Nathan Burns, and Dyson Stevenson - and three more - Joel Hanley (POR), Dan O'Donoghue (POR), and Bretton Stamler (HFD) - were assigned to Gwinnett and have since been recalled to the AHL.
Milestones: Joe Stejskal is three games away from his 100th ECHL contest, and ten away from his 200th professional game ... Rookie forward Nathan Burns picked up his first professional point last Saturday ... Fellow rookie Dyson Stevenson picked up his first pro point the next day, on Sunday against Toledo.
