
Americans Hold on for 6-4 Win over Tulsa

Allen, TX - The Allen Americans scored three times in the third period and held on for a 6-4 win over the Tulsa Oilers on Saturday night at Allen Event Center. It was the Americans first home win of the season
It didn't take long for Spencer Asuchak to make his presence known as he opened the scoring for Allen at the 5:40 mark, scoring shorthanded with the assist going to Austin Smith. The Asuchak goal fired up the Americans who then extended their lead to 2-0 when Aaron Gens found the back of the net at 7:10, assisted by Jamie Schaafsma and Austin Smith. Tulsa cut the lead in half, on the power play at 12:24 on a goal by Adam Pleskach with assists from Scott Macaulay and Jon Booras. Allen held the 2-1 lead into the first intermission with Allen holding a solid edge in shots 18-10.
The Oilers tied the game in the first seven minutes on a shorthanded goal by Dave Pszenyczny, assisted by Jon Booras. Allen answered back to retake the lead on a goal by Chad Costello, Tyler Ludwig and Ian Schultz contributed with the helpers at 10:45. A last second goal by Tulsa brought the game level again when Scott Macaulay lit the lamp at 19:59, assisted by Jeff Jubinville. After two periods of play, Allen continued to hold the edge on shots by a count of 29-20.
The Americans exploded for three quick goals in the final frame to earn the win, keeping Tulsa to a lone, late period goal. Trevor Ludwig got things started for Allen, lighting the lamp at 2:27 with assists from Jack Combs and Jamie Schaafsma. Gary Steffes added another marker at 3:19, unassisted and the Americans scoring was rounded out by Jamie Schaafsma at 4:30, with Justin Baker and Chad Costello earning the helpers. Tulsa's lone goal of the period went to Jake Obermeyer, assisted by Jeff Jubinville at 15:29. Allen again outshot Tulsa by a count of 14-10 in the period for a three period total of 43-30.
The Americans finish the weekend series against Tulsa on Sunday afternoon at Allen Event Center, the puck drop is scheduled for 4:05 PM.
