TONIGHT:

The Ontario Reign (5-3-0-1) return home for Military Appreciation Night to take on the Utah Grizzlies (2-4-1-1) for the first time this season. The Grizzlies are coming off a 3-2 shootout loss to the Stockton Thunder on Friday.

HISTORY HAS BEEN MADE:

Ontario Reign head coach Jason Christie joined some elite company among the ECHL head coaching ranks on Wednesday, as he coached his 800th game behind an ECHL bench, making him only the fourth coach in league history to reach the milestone. Only John Marks (1,008), Jeff Pyle (932) and John Brophy (882) have coached more games in the ECHL; Wednesday also gave Christie his 445th win, which also ranks fourth all-time as well.

NEW DEPTH WITH RETURN OF KOPITAR:

The return of Gasper Kopitar to the lineup appeared to have a positive effect for Ontario on Wednesday, after the forward had sat out the first eight games of the season while on the 21-day IR. Kopitar showed that his hockey sense was finely tuned, redirecting two shots that were initially credited to other players before later being awarded to the Slovenian forward.

YOU AGAIN?:

Plenty of former teammates will square off against each other tonight for the Reign and Grizzlies. Utah forwards Brent Gwidt and Johnnie Searfoss were teammates with Ontario forward Matt White at the University of Nebraska-Omaha, while Reign head coach Jason Christie coached Grizzlies defenseman/assistant coach Patrick Wellar during the latter's rookie campaign with the Peoria Rivermen during the 2004-05 season.

Furthermore, Grizzlies left winger T.J. Syner played at UMass-Amherst with current Reign forward Rocco Carzo, and defenseman Marc Cantin played on the same Mississauga St. Michael's Majors squad as Ontario winger Maxim Kitsyn.
