
Defenseman Makes Second Trip to AHL

The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that defenseman Jon Awe has been called up to the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League.
Awe makes his second trip to the AHL this season after appearing in 17 games with the Portland Pirates from November 18th though January 5th. He recorded an assist and 8 penalty minutes in his first stint in the AHL.
The Memphis, Tennessee native has appeared in 28 games this season for the Gladiators recording 3 goals and 8 assists for 11 points and a game-winning goal.
A rookie out of Northeastern University this year, Awe led Northeastern University defensemen during his junior season with 13 points.
Awe should be available for the Bruins for their 7:05 p.m. tilt against the Portland Pirates on Wednesday.
The Gwinnett Gladiators continue the 2005-06 ECHL season on the road as they travel to Florida to take on the Everblades on Friday, February 24th at 7:30 p.m. The Gladiators offer several ticket packages for different needs as well as group outings, suites and birthday parties. The Gladiators play all 36 home games at the Arena at Gwinnett Center located on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth and are the AA affiliate of the Atlanta Thrashers.
