Stockton Thunder News Release

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder has acquired defenseman Jeff Lang from the Toledo Storm in exchange for defenseman Mike Knight, Thunder head coach Chris Cichocki announced today.

"We're thrilled to bring on Jeff as part of our defensive corps," said Cichocki. "He will provide us with an offensive spark from the blueline, along with becoming a key ingredient on the power play."

Lang, 23, is currently in the middle of an admirable ECHL rookie campaign, tallying 25 points (3g-22a) in 44 games with the Storm, leaving Toledo ranked second on the team in scoring and assists among defenseman. His 12 power play assists ranked second among the Storm's defensemen, and has also appeared in one game with the American Hockey League's Cleveland Barons.

A native of Westwood, Massachusetts, Lang spent his four-year college hockey career at University of Massachusetts-Amherst (NCAA), posting 27 career points (7g-20a) in 120 games with the Minutemen. He helped guide UMass to the Hockey East conference championship game in his 2003-04 junior season which ended in a 2-1 triple-overtime defeat to college-powerhouse Maine, which ranked as the fourth-longest game in NCAA history.

Lang, who joins defenseman and Captain Dean Stork as Stockton's second UMass alum on the team, is expected to be in uniform for the Thunder's Wednesday home game against the Bakersfield Condors.

The Thunder returns to play against the Condors on Wednesday, with a 7 p.m. PT face-off slated at Stockton Arena. The game can be heard live on the internet (free-of-charge) and is available for viewing at a $6 "pay-per-view" rate at www.stocktonthunder.com, courtesy of B-2 Networks.
