Defenseman Garrett Haar Selected to 2015 ECHL All-Star Team

North Charleston, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays, celebrating 22 seasons of hockey in the Lowcountry, announced today that defenseman Garrett Harr has been selected to the ECHL All-Star Team for the 2015 CCM ECHL All-Star Classic presented by Visit Orlando in Orlando, Florida January 20-21.

Haar, 21, leads Stingrays defensemen with 14 points and is second on the team with 11 assists in 24 games this season. Currently in his rookie campaign, the Huntington Beach, California, native skated in 61 games with the Portland Winterhawks of the Western Hockey League (WHL) standing second among team defensemen with 45 points, second with 38 assists and third with seven goals.

Before switching to junior hockey, Haar attended Western Michigan University for two seasons (2011-13). He was selected by the Washington Capitals, a National Hockey League (NHL) affiliate of the Stingrays, in the seventh round (207th overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

The Stingrays begin a three-game road trip tonight, Thursday, January 8 against the Gwinnett Gladiators at 7:00 p.m. at The Arena at Gwinnett Center in Duluth, Georgia and return to the North Charleston Coliseum for a three-game in three-day home weekend starting Friday, January 16 against the Toledo Walleye at 7:05 p.m. Grab a Friday Family Four Pack including four tickets to the game, four hotdogs, four sodas and large popcorn for $55! The weekend wraps up Sunday, January 18 with Frozen with the Children's Museum of the Lowcountry at 3:05 p.m. against the Walleye.
