Shamanski to Represent Jackals at ECHL All-Star Game

ELMIRA, N.Y. - January 8, 2015 - The Elmira Jackals, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Buffalo Sabres and AHL's Rochester Americans, announced today that rookie defensemen Steven Shamanski has been voted to the ECHL All-Star Team for the All-Star Game on January 21, 2015 in Orlando, Florida.
Shamanski leads all Jackals' defensemen in goals, assists and points.
Shamanski, 25, leads all ECHL rookie defensemen with seven goals and 11 power-play points, and is also tied for the league-lead among first-year blueliners with 22 points. The 6-foot 200-pound Carberry. Manitoba native is tied for second among all ECHL defensemen in power-play points, ranks tied for third in goals and is tied for fifth in points. Shamanski ranks second on the Jackals' points list and leads all team defensemen in goals, assists and points. He leads the team with seven power-play assists and is tied for the team lead with four power-play goals.
More than 60 players from the ECHL All-Star Game have gone on to play in the National Hockey League, including 46 since 2002 when the lineups began having players who coaches felt were prospects to move up to a higher level.
