Cyclones shut out K-Wings

Kalamazoo Wings News Release

CINCINNNATI- Sam Brittain made 36 saves en route to recording his first professional shutout, as the Cincinnati Cyclones defeated the Kalamazoo Wings Saturday night at the U.S. Bank Arena.

A high speed pace by both teams led to plenty of physical play and end-to-end action, but no scoring in the opening period.

While the teams were able to maintain tempo in the second period, it was Cincinnati that was able to break the seal. Creating a turnover in the K-Wings zone, Byron Froese (8th) slid a backhander past Oscar Dansk late in the stanza to give the Cyclones the lead.

The backbreaker for the K-Wings occurred midway in the third period. While killing off a penalty, Froese created an odd-man rush and sent a centering pass to Zach Budish (4th) for the shorthanded goal. The goal was Budish's league-leading third shorthanded goal.

The K-Wings will return to Wings Stadium next Wednesday, December 10th with a 7 p.m. face-off versus the Gwinnett Gladiators during Dime Dog Night, presented by Winter's Sausage.

Between now and Wednesday, December 10th fans that come to any K-Wings home game can register to win two tickets to the Detroit Red Wings game on December 16th versus the Columbus Blue Jackets. The prize also includes a special meet and greet after the game in the Olympia Club.

Tickets for all K-Wings home games are currently on sale at Wings Stadium Ticket Office, all Ticketmaster locations, including www.ticketmaster.com or by calling (800) 745-3000.
