
Mallards Overcome Rush in Shootout 3-2

RAPID CITY, SD - Logan Nelson, Joe Perry- who also provided a goal in regulation- and Nick Grasso scored in the shootout to propel the Quad City Mallards (8-7-5) to a 3-2 win over the host Rapid City Rush (6-12-2) Saturd ay night. The victory halted the Mallards' six game winless streak.
The Mallards converted in each of the final three rounds while only J.P. Chabot scored in the shootout for Rapid City.
Quad City goaltender Parker Milner went 3-for-4 in the shootout after making 22 saves in regulation and overtime.
The Mallards finally secured victory in the shootout after twice taking the lead in regulation. Joe Perry rifled in the game's first goal from the slot at 10:15 of the first period. The Rush replied when Johan Ryd batted in the equalizer from the side of the net at 15:40 of the first.
Justin Fox gave the Mallards a 2-1 lead at 5:42 of the second period. Fox received a a little assistance in putting the Mallards back on top when his shot from the right wing circle was deflected just wide of the Rush net, caromed off the end boards into the crease and bounced home of Rapid City's Landon Oslanski. Daniel Tetrault tied the game for a second time with a power play blast from the top of the right wing circle at 16:03 of the second but the Mallards would recover to secure their first win since November 22.
The Mallards return to action Wednesday night on the road against the Allen Americans. The Mallards next play at home on Wednesday evening, December 17 at 7:05 p.m. against the Brampton Beast. Fans can get four tickets to Mallards Wednesday night home games for just $20. After each Wednesday night home tilt, fans can join the Mallards at T.G.I. Friday's in Moline for a postgame party.

The box office is open weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and game days from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the second period. Tickets are available for $10, $16, $20 and $28.
