Cyclones Prepare for Peoria & Irbe\'s Chiefs

The Clones went 1-2 last week to fall to 5-6-0 for the season. Cincinnati beat Wheeling 4-1 on Wednesday at U.S. Bank Arena. The team then traveled west for a showdown with the Idaho Steelheads. In the Clones first games vs. a former WCHL foe, the team was shutout twice in Boise.

Wednesday, November 5-Cyclones 4 vs Wheeling 1: The Clones upset the ECHL's fourth-best team on Wednesday by downing the Nailers 4-1 at U.S. Bank Arena. Jason Norrie opened the scoring for the Clones 1:03 into the first period when he scored an unassisted goal. Brendon Hodge would tie the game at one before the first period ended. The second period belonged to the Clones as Derrick Byfuglien scored his first goal and Josh Harrold added his second to give Cincinnati at 3-1 lead. Connor Dunlop would add an empty-net goal in the third period to secure the win. In his pro debut, Dunlop had a goal and an assist.

Friday, November 7-Cyclones 0 at Idaho 3: The Clones suffered their first shutout of the season at the hands of the Idaho Steelheads. Three Steelheads defenseman (Dave Cornacchia, Darrell Hay and Regan Darby) scored at even strength to give Idaho the victory. Idaho's Dan Ellis recorded his first shutout of the season after stopping all 33 Cyclones shots. The Clones finished the game 0-7 on the power play. The Clones did manage to kill all three Idaho power plays to extend their streak of penalties killed to 19.

Saturday, November 8-Cyclones 0 at Idaho 1: The Clones were shutout for a second consecutive night in Idaho. The Clones outshot the Steelheads 33-26, but couldn't beat goaltender Blair Allison. The shutout stretched the Clones' streak to 120 minutes in Idaho without a goal.

This Week

Friday, November 14-Peoria at Cincinnati: The Clones host the Peoria Rivermen for the second time this season on Friday at U.S. Bank Arena. The Clones gave up two goals in the final two minutes on opening night to fall to the R-Men 4-3.

Saturday, November 15-Johnstown at Cincinnati: Former NHL netminder Arturs Irbe makes his first trip to U.S. Bank Arena this Saturday. Irbe played in the Stanley Cup Final for the Carolina Hurricanes during the 2002 playoffs. Irbe has played over 500 games in the National Hockey League.

Clones to Watch

-Jeremy Bachusz, Connor Dunlop, Garrett Prosofsky, Reagan Rome and Jeff Worlton all missed playing time in Idaho due to injury.

-The Clones have killed off 22 consecutive opponent power plays.
