LAST WEEK'S RECORD: 3-1-0 OVERALL RECORD: 5-4-0, 10 pts.
Nov. 4 @ Columbus â Kris Porter scored two third period goals and goaltender Terry Friesen stopped 39 of 40 to help lead the Falcons to a 3-1 victory over the Columbus Cottonmouths, snapping a three-game losing streak.
Nov. 7 @ Pensacola â Porter and Friesen led the way yet again as the Falcons defeated the Pensacola Ice Pilots, 3-2. Porter scored a short-handed, game-winning goal with 2:32 remaining in the third period to break a 2-2 tie, and Friesen made another 39 saves in the victory.
Nov. 8 @ Pensacola â Fresno swept back-to-back games against the Ice Pilots with a 6-3 win in the finale after scoring three goals in a 2:35 span of the third period to break open another game tied at two. Michael Kiesman tallied twice during the three-goal flurry sandwiched around the eventual game-winner from Mike Sandbeck.
Nov. 9 @ Mississippi â Three games in three days proved too much for the Falcons as they yielded six second-period goals to the Mississippi Sea Wolves in a 9-4 loss, which snapped the club's season-high three-game winning streak.
THIS WEEK'S UPCOMING GAMES
The Falcons are the only team in the ECHL that has not played at home this season. They finally conclude an 11-game road trip to begin the 2003-04 season this week beginning in Beaumont, TX, against the Texas Wildcatters on Tuesday and wrapping up on Friday at Long Beach against the Ice Dogs. Their home opener and inaugural game at Save Mart Center at Fresno State is on Sunday versus the Bakersfield Condors.
Tuesday, Nov. 11 @ Texas (Beaumont), 5 p.m. (Live radio broadcast on KAAT 103.1 FM 4:50 p.m.)
Friday, Nov. 14 @ Long Beach, 7:30 p.m. (Tape delayed radio broadcast on KAAT 103.1 FM at approximately 10:30 p.m.)
Sunday, Nov. 16 vs. Bakersfield, 5 p.m. â First 5,000 fans receive a limited-edition Falcons lithograph. The Falcons wear Save Mart Center commemorative jerseys to be auctioned off after the game to benefit the Fresno Junior Falcons. The game is presented by Gourmet Edibles.
NOTES
· Fresno made several player transactions today by placing Jordan Landry and Mike Sandbeck on 30-day injured reserve and waiving forward Erik Jensen.
· Greg Bullock and Kris Porter are tied for the team scoring lead with 13 points apiece, which ties them both for 11th league-wide. Bullock (3g-10a) currently has the second longest point streak in the ECHL this season with at least one point in all nine games the Falcons have played, and Porter (8g-5a) is tied for second across the 31-team league in goals.
· The Falcons start the week in a tie for third place in the Pacific Division with the Alaska Aces, four points behind the second-place Idaho Steelheads and 10 points back of the first-place Las Vegas Wranglers.
· Fresno is tied for 13th (17.2%) in the league on the power play this season and 20th (80.4%) on the penalty kill.
