THE WEEK AHEAD

Friday, November 14th vs. Columbus Cottonmouths 7:30pm Carolina Coliseum

This is the third time this season that the Inferno will face-off against the Cottonmouths. Columbia is 1-0-1 against Columbus this year. Columbus is in fifth place in the Central Division of the Western Conference with seven points (3-9-1).

Saturday, November 15th @ Greensboro Generals 7:30pm Greensboro Coliseum Complex

The last time the Inferno and the Generals met, Greensboro beat Columbia 4-2 on October 21st. The Inferno overall record against the Generals is 1-4-3. This is the second meeting out of eight this season.

Monday, November 3rd Columbia 2 SOUTH CAROLINA 3

The Columbia Inferno fell short one goal as the South Carolina Stingrays skate away with a 3-2 victory. The Stingrays ignited the scoring when Curtis Huppe slipped the puck passed goaltender Josh Blackburn at 1:21. The Inferno's Paul Cabana scored his second goal to notch the score at one. The Stingrays increased their lead when Shawn Skiehar netted his first goal of the season at the 3:57 mark of the second period. With time dying out in the second period, Marty Clapton scored with 15 seconds left on the power to give the Stingrays a 2-1 lead. Sean Owens redirected a Dennis Vial blue line blast to inch the Inferno closer on a shorthanded goal. With a 1:30 left in the game, Coach White pulled Blackburn and applied pressure in the Stingrays zone, but came up short.

Friday, November 7th COLUMBIA 2 Greenville 1 (Shootout)

The Columbia Inferno led for most of the game after Tim Smith opened the scoring with a power play goal at 5:27 of the first period. Corey Hessler and Barrie Moore assisted on the goal. After a scoreless second period, the Greenville Grrrowl scored only 2:08 into the third period with a goal by Peter Flache. After a 4-on-4-overtime period, the score remained tied at one a piece and the game went into a shootout. Goaltender's Josh Blackburn and Michel Robinson were brick walls, each stopping the first four shooters. Tim Smith scored on the final shot of the game, giving the Inferno their sixth win of the season. Blackburn stopped 29 of 30 shots to earn his fourth win.

Saturday, November 8th Columbia 3 ROANOKE 4 (Shootout)

The Columbia Inferno fought a tough battle as they lost 4-3 to the Roanoke Express in a shootout. This is the second shootout in a row for the Inferno. Eric Labelle opened the scoring for the Inferno at 3:51 into the first period with assists from Robin Carruthers and Tim Smith. Roanoke's Joe Dusbabek tied the game on the power play at 17:05. Corey Hessler scored at 6:57 on the power play with a slap shot from the blue line with passes from Labelle and Derek Eastman to give the Inferno a 2-1 lead. The Express would not let that lead last long as Rick Kowalsky tied the game at two a piece at 19:59 on the power play. Paul Cabana scored his third goal of the season at 2:55 of the third period on an Inferno power play. Sean Owens had the assist. Shawn Limpright flipped one past Inferno goaltender Josh Blackburn to tie the game and send it into overtime. After a scoreless overtime, shots on goal were 4-2 in Columbia's favor. Blackburn was tough in goal, stopping 40 of 43 shots. The Inferno had 39 shots on goal through the overtime period.

Paul Cabana has three goals in his last four games...Corey Hessler has three points (1g-2a) in his last three games...Tim Smith is on a seven game point streak (3g-7a)...Robin Carruthers has six points (2g-4a) in his last five games...Eric Labelle scored his first goal this season, as well as an assist, against the Roanoke Express on Saturday...Barrie Moore leads the Inferno with a +7...The Inferno have not lost a game on the road (2-0-2).

Friday, November 14th: Salvation Army Night/Ladies Night: The Inferno will help kick off the Holiday Red Kettle Drive for the Salvation Army...Ladies Night: First 500 ladies will receive a flower when entering the building and there will be lots of other prizes for the ladies in attendance.

Wednesday, November 26th: Turkey Bowling Night: The Harvest Hope will be here collecting food for the holiday season. Fans are encouraged to bring canned food for the needy.

Friday, November 28th: Toys for Tots...Season of Giving. Fans are asked to bring a toy to donate to the Toys for Tots program. Marines will be here to help collect the toys.

Friday, December 5th: 89.7 WMHK's Bears for Caring – Bring a teddy bear and after the first goal the Inferno score you can throw the bear on the ice as a donation to 89.7 WMHK's Bears for Caring program. These bears will be distributed throughout the Midlands.
