Coyotes Recall Turris From San Antonio

GLENDALE, ARIZONA -- Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have recalled center Kyle Turris from their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the San Antonio Rampage.

Turris, 19, has recorded 6-10-16 and 17 PIM in 50 games with the Coyotes this season. He has also appeared in eight games with San Antonio, collecting 4-3-7.

Last season, Turris led the University of Wisconsin Badgers in scoring as a freshman by recording 11-24-35 in 36 games. Following the completion of the college season, Turris signed with the Coyotes and made his NHL debut on April 3, 2008. He played in each of the final three games of the 2007-08 campaign for the Coyotes and finished with one assist and two PIM.

The 6-foot-1, 180-pound Turris played in the 2008 World Junior Championships in the Czech Republic, helping to lead Canada to the gold medal. He led the team in scoring with 4-4-8 in seven games. A native of New Westminster, British Columbia, Turris also helped Team Canada to a 7-0-1 record in the 2007 Super Series and led all goal-scorers with seven goals in eight games.

The 6-foot-1, 180-pound Turris was selected by the Coyotes in the first round (3rd overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
